Britain is where a lot of New Zealanders end up for a few years, and it is the destination with the most confusing shelves.
The confusion is that several of the brand names are the same. The products behind them are not. A Kiwi who picks up a familiar-looking bar in a British supermarket is usually in for a small disappointment, because it is a different recipe made for a different market.
Same name, different thing
The one that catches people every time is Marmite. The British jar and the New Zealand jar share a name and almost nothing else. New Zealand Marmite is Sanitarium’s, it is milder and thicker, and it goes on differently. Vegemite is a third product again, Australian, and not a substitute for either.
The same trap applies to a few chocolate bars. If you want the version you grew up with, the thing that matters is where it was made, not what the wrapper says.
Everything in this shop is New Zealand stock, bought here and packed here.
What Kiwis in Britain actually order
After a few years abroad the list gets short and specific. Marmite. A Whittaker’s block, usually Creamy Milk. Pineapple Lumps, because there is genuinely nothing like them on a British shelf. A Griffin’s biscuit for the tea that Britain at least gets right.
That is a sensible first order, and it sits comfortably inside the first 2 kg.
Chocolate and the weather
One of the few places where chocolate is the easy recommendation.
British weather is kind to a parcel for most of the year, so blocks travel well outside a summer heatwave. If a hot spell is forecast the week you order, biscuits and lollies are the safer pick.
Read our heat-sensitive products policyWhat to send to the United Kingdom
Picked for this trip, not a bestseller list. One line on each says why it earns its place in the box.
The New Zealand jar, which is not the British spread of the same name.
The block most Kiwis in Britain order first, and keep ordering.
No British equivalent exists, which is the whole point of them.
Marshmallow on a biscuit base under chocolate. Sturdy enough for the trip.
Ordered most often, everywhere
Not enough orders have gone to the United Kingdom yet to show what is popular there specifically, so this is what the whole shop orders most.
One rate covers the first 2 kg
Your DHL Express rate to the United Kingdom follows the weight of the box. A half full box costs the same to send as a full one, so the trick is filling it well. Above 2 kg a step rate applies per 0.5 kg, and the exact figure shows at checkout once you enter your address.

Import charges are set by the United Kingdom, not by us
We never add them to your price, and we do not try to predict them. The rules change without notice, so the only reliable source is GOV.UK. If anything is owed, DHL Express contacts you before delivery.
Shipping to the United Kingdom
How long does delivery to the UK take +
Typically 4 to 6 business days with DHL Express once your order leaves Auckland, with dispatch inside 1 to 2 business days of payment. These are carrier estimates rather than guarantees, and customs processing can add a day or two.
What currency will I be charged in +
Pounds. The site picks up that you are in the UK and switches the catalogue to GBP, and that is the currency you are charged in at checkout.
Is New Zealand Marmite the same as British Marmite +
No. They share a name and very little else. New Zealand Marmite is made by Sanitarium and has its own flavour and texture, which is why Kiwis in Britain keep ordering it rather than buying the jar in their local shop. Vegemite is a third thing again.
Can I send this as a gift to someone in the UK +
Yes. Enter their address as the delivery address at checkout and the parcel goes straight to them with DHL tracking the whole way.
